Southgate House

Location: Norwich, UK

Sector: Residential

Restoration and extension of this locally listed landmark. The house is part Georgian and part Victorian it has a long local history originating as the Norwich Harbourmaster’s office and then being converted into a grand Victorian home.

The project involved the restoration of historic features, insulation and new services and a contemporary extension.

Environmental Considerations:
The building was in considerable disrepair with old and outdated electricity and heating and not a scrap of insulation. Fundamental to the restoration was carefully wrapping the home in insulation mindful not to harm the heritage features.

Cleaver detailing around original cornicing, window reveals and under floors made the task possible.
