The redevelopment of Ealing studios will incorporate a substantial new film studio, production offices and workshop facilities.  The proposal for the revitalised studios will provide highly sustainable environmentally low-impact (BREEAM Outstanding) regeneration of the site fit for new demands in filmmaking.

The scheme is targeting Net Carbon Zero through the reduction of regulated energy consumption, reduction through energy efficiency measures in construction and maximising on-site electrical and heat production from solar PV’s. 

Whole-life carbon is being addressed by re-using demolition materials where possible, for example reclaimed bricks.  Additionally, new materials are being selected for their low embodied carbon such as the ground slab which will have a percentage of GGBS in the mix.  Modular and off-site production are being pursued also to reduce construction times and deliver sustainability efficiencies.

The proposals provide the next step in the life of Ealing Studios which will allow them to compete and provide great space for Ealing's film heritage and future productions.  The design and ambition will transform the oldest continuous filming studio in the world into one of the most advanced.
